This free crochet slippers with flip flop soles pattern is perfect for wearing around the house (or even outside!) as it is crafted from cotton yarn and a rubber sole.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy crocheting slippers with a real, flip-flop sole just as much as I did. When I originally came across these crocheted boots from Croche Da Alessandra, the concept of summer slippers inspired by flip-flops lodged itself in my mind and wouldn’t go away until I created them.

If you like to keep your feet covered when you’re at home but find that warm weather doesn’t make for the best slipper-wearing climate, these are the perfect choice for you!

These crocheted slippers offer a unique combination of comfort and style, thanks to their open weave and breathable Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton yarn, as well as their flip flop (or “thong”) sole.

The sole provides a more substantial fit than regular crocheted slippers, and also offers superior grip for strolling around the house. Furthermore, these crocheted shoes are so comfortable that you may find yourself wearing them outside – and they even resemble Toms!

In Brazil those flip-flops are really popular, called Havaianas (which is also the name of the company that manufactures it), but transforming it in a crochet slippers is a new technique.

If you’re looking for a fun and unique way to keep your toes warm this summer, check out this free pattern for Summer Crochet Slippers with Flip Flop Soles!

7.5 sc = 2”

When buying your flip flops, you should look for a flop flop that offers a fit of around .25″ of sole around your foot (similar to the fit of a normal shoe). When looking at the pattern sizing, it is important to note that the shoe sizes mentioned refer to the regular shoe size you normally wear and not the size of the flip flops after it has been sized down.

When making your slippers, you’ll want them to have a slight curl, similar to some ballet flats. This will allow them to fit your feet nicely without having to do a lot of increasing or decreasing. You should also know that the slippers will stretch out a bit with wear.

No chain stitches are needed to be made at the start of each round when crocheting the sides and heel of the slipper; instead, the pattern will be worked in a continuous spiral. It is helpful to think of the flip flop as if the top of the toe is at 12:00 and the heel is at 6:00.
