I’m sure you’ll enjoy crocheting slippers with a real, flip-flop sole just as much as I did. When I originally came across these crocheted boots from Croche Da Alessandra, the concept of summer slippers inspired by flip-flops lodged itself in my mind and wouldn’t go away until I created them.
If you like to keep your feet covered when you’re at home but find that warm weather doesn’t make for the best slipper-wearing climate, these are the perfect choice for you!

Sizes:
This pattern works well for women’s sizes 6-10, but you can easily add or eliminate a row to the top section to make it longer or shorter for other sizes.

Size B [2.25 mm] crochet hook or size needed to fit through flip flop holes
Size G [4.0 mm] crochet hook
1-2 printed copies of the “ruler” at end of the printable pattern or a measuring tape
1 pair of flip flops (One size smaller than you wear normally. See pattern notes.)
Sharp tool to poke holes (I use this clay tool. You can also try a skewer, thin drill bit or awl.)
Sharp scissors
Stitch markers
Strong glue such as E6000 to glue strap plugs to sole (optional)

7.5 sc = 2” 12 rows = 2”
When buying your flip flops, you should look for a flop flop that offers a fit of around .25″ of sole around your foot (similar to the fit of a normal shoe). When looking at the pattern sizing, it is important to note that the shoe sizes mentioned refer to the regular shoe size you normally wear and not the size of the flip flops after it has been sized down.
When making your slippers, you’ll want them to have a slight curl, similar to some ballet flats. This will allow them to fit your feet nicely without having to do a lot of increasing or decreasing. You should also know that the slippers will stretch out a bit with wear.
No chain stitches are needed to be made at the start of each round when crocheting the sides and heel of the slipper; instead, the pattern will be worked in a continuous spiral. It is helpful to think of the flip flop as if the top of the toe is at 12:00 and the heel is at 6:00.
